Special Olympics is Worth the Fight!!

The President has proposed cuting billions from the federal education budget and reducing services for students and schools. Now, it's Congress's turn to make decisions about how much money to invest in education in FY 2020, and advocates must speak out.
Please join our Life Skills Self-Advocacy class in telling Congress why it’s important to you that they fully fund the programs that provide students and educators with the supports and resources they need and use this action alert to help us increase funding for special education services, student support and academic enrichment programs, grants for teachers, and special education research.
TAKE ACTION
Use the form below to tell your Members of Congress: Support students and teachers by investing in public education.

Job Training at Kmart

We are excited to be acquiring retail work skills in our job preparation class at Kmart. So far we have been learning about:

  • organizing clothes by size
  • folding T-shirts
  • go-backs (returning merchandise back to store shelves)

Sarah says she likes folding the jeans and T-shirts. "It is my favorite place to go!"

Joey likes working at Kmart because "it's fun to sort clothes".

"America’s Workforce: Empowering All"

The Life Skills Program is proud to support National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Held each October, NDEAM strives to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the contributions of America's workers with disabilities. Throughout this month, we have been learning about our disability employment rights and advocating for a disability-friendly work culture. Learn how you can support NDEAM by visiting the website: https://www.dol.gov/odep/topics/ndeam/.
