Holiday Dinner Dance

Last Friday, we had our annual dinner dance at school. Our dinner dance raises money for our program and is a fun event that we look forward to every year. This year, we sold caramel popcorn, holiday cards that we made in our cardmaking class, and doggy treat bags. 

This is what the Blogging group has to say about the Dinner Dance: 

Courtney - We listened to Taylor Swift and had lasagna for dinner. 

Erin - I sang "Happy" by Pharell Williams that I practiced. I danced with my friend, James. 

David - I was sick but my ILS worker said my classmates were singing the YMCA. 

Alexis - We danced to a Bruno Mars song. 

Sarah - I danced the tango with my boyfriend. 

Monique - I didn't come to the dance but I helped decorate the room for the dance. I heard they had salad, lemonade, coffee, and cake at the dance. 

Rachele - I wasn't able to go to the dance but I can't wait for next year!

We're Back!

Classes have started up again! So far this year, we have voted for our new class officers, we started going to the YMCA, we got brand new tablets, and started up our old classes like Arts and Crafts, Science and Nature, and Book Club.

Somewhere over the Rainbow

This is our last blog post for the summer. We voted on writing about our dream jobs. We'll see you in the fall. 

Rachele: I would want to be a tutor for young kids or disabled people. I want to help people learn new things that they don't know how to do, like read, write, or work on the computer. 

David: Someday, I want to own a cat and dog training program. I would train the dogs to obey their owners and train the cats to come when called. 

Steve: One of my dream jobs would be to become a Master Photographer. I would share my work with the world. 

Erin: I want to be a filmmaker. I want to draw pictures and make them into a fictional cartoon movie based on Unico Gift Book Vol. 3, my favorite book. 

Alexis: I want to sew quilts and sell them overseas to people in need, like babies. 

Lizanne: I would be a dog groomer because I love dogs. I would wash them, dry them, and put a bow in their hair. 

Jennifer: I want to be a church group leader so that I can help my friends with God stuff. 

Nicole: My dream job is to work at an animal shelter so that I can help rescue animals. I would walk them, play with them, and bathe them. 

Julia: I would want to be a director. I have been writing the story since 2006. It's called "The Hero Brothers." The main characters are called Sajo & Fytro.

Our Fun Adventure!

Our class went on an all day outing to a city near us. We took BART and then some of the group watched a dance performance and the rest of us went shopping. Then, we went to Mel's for lunch. 

David- I liked the dance.
Jennifer- I bought myself lunch. I had taco salad and a water.
Erin- I liked Mel's Diner.
Rachele- I liked getting out of school and enjoying the fresh air.
Lizanne- I liked watching the ladies dancing.
Nicole- I had a milkshake at lunch.
Julia- I was the class photographer and took lots of pictures. 

David: Our class went to the local bowling alley to raise money for our program.
Lizanne: Everyone loved to bowl.
Nicole: We laughed a lot.
Jessica: I hope we can use the money we raised for school parties.
Julia: Our classmate, Steve, got the highest score.
 Alexis: We had pizza and pink lemonade for dinner.
Jennifer: I like to watch other people bowl.
Erin: I didn't go to the Bowl-a-Thon but I'm happy my classmates raised a lot of money.

Where is one place you would like to live or go on a vacation?

Alexis: I want to travel the whole world. I want to go to Hawaii and do Brain Gym on the beach.
Jessica: Disneyland to see Little Mermaid with my family. I want to see Goofy too.
Jennifer: Pennsylvania to see my Grandpa's grave and the rest of my family that lives there.
Lizanne: Kansas to see all my family. I also want to see where Wizard of Oz was filmed.
Nicole: I want to go to Hawaii with my family. I want to ride the dolphins and relax.
Erin: I picked two imaginary places: Tibecuador and Gumballnowigbattleaxeninja. Those are both imaginary countries in TV shows like the Fairly Oddparents and The Amazing World of Gumball.
Julia: I want to live in an imaginary place called Tykia. I would relax in a sky jacuzzi and watch the lava falls. 
David: I would love to live in Monterey because I love the water, sea life, and food. I would buy a house right by the water so I can hear the waves crash into the rocks.

Felting Class

We felted covers for our plastic Easter Eggs.

 We liked making a Spring craft.
It was challenging but a lot of fun.

how to do and to be able to decorate

our vases however we wanted! 

Class Response to Discrimination

We read an article about a group of disabled people who were discriminated against at their work. This is how we feel about being discriminated against.

Rachele- I think it's wrong to discriminate. Everyone deserves to have a job. Sometimes I wish I could do more but that doesn't mean I can't do something that people without disabilities can do.
Jennifer- I think it's unfair because I am a hard worker.
Nicole- We are independent so I think it's unfair.
Lizanne- We can do more than people think we can.
Alexis- I don't think it's right because we try our best.
Jessica- I think it's unfair.
Julia- We deserve equal rights. We might learn differently but we are not stupid.
Erin- I think it's ridiculous. I am still talented.

David: My family, my friends, steak, TV shows, and playing video games. 

Erin: Cartoons, pets, food, books, and music. 

Lizanne: Arts & Crafts, lasagna, Donny Osmond, Disney Channel, and birds.
Alexis:Email, sewing, playing games with my family, technology, and Sign Language. 

Jessica: Chinese food, my mom, writing in my journal, watching TV, and the color purple. 

Rachele: Writing my life story, being in the lake, hanging out with my niece, listening to music, and Arts & Crafts. 

Jennifer: Teachers, my boyfriend Steve, friends, video games, and Life Skills class. 

Julia: Softball, going to Pixar, tiramisu, my dogs, and Walk the Moon the band. 

Science & Nature

Today during Science & Nature class, we learned about electricity. This is one of our classmates with a balloon making his hair stick up.

What would you do if you won a lottery ticket?

David: If I won the lottery, I would buy a limo to take me and my family anywhere I want to go. I would also buy out the Giants and the 49ers and own both teams. I would buy Giants, 49ers, and Wrestlemania tickets for all my family & friends.
Erin: If I lived in a fictional world, I would go to the Pizza Planet like the one in Toy Story. In the real world, if I won the lottery, I would go to Chuck E. Cheese's and the Spirit of Monterrey Wax Museum. I would also buy Old Spice deodorants and shampoos.
Jenny: I would laugh a lot if I won the lottery. I would go to an A's baseball game, have a big wedding, buy a house for my husband and I, and buy my own bowling alley.
Jessica: I would go out to dinner with my mom to celebrate. I would go to a One Direction concert, and go to Disneyland.
Alexis: I would be very happy if I won the lottery. I would travel the world, go swimming with the dolphins, donate books to other schools, go to Hawaii, and have fun.
Rachele: I would pay to get my book published. I would go visit my cousin who is my best friend. I would buy a dog, an iPhone, an iPad, and I would buy Disneyland.
